The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), along with seven academic partners, Linköping University, Blekinge Institute of Technology, Royal Institute of Technology, RISE AB, The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), Uppsala University, and Lund University, are jointly running a research program known as “Capacity in the railway traffic system” (in Swedish: Kapacitet i järnvägstrafiken – KAJT). The program was established in January 2013. The core activity is in the development of processes and innovations in the field of capacity planning and traffic management from operational service to 40 years in the future.
